Automated Appeal Process for Player Rating

Automated Appeal Process for Player Ratings

This is a new feature using an Appeal Ratings button on the “Find a Rating” league page.

A player or their captain/coordinator may appeal the player's computer-generated rating. The decision on the appeal will be automatically determined based on the criteria listed below.
Please note that no national championship benchmark rating may be appealed the first year received except for medical reasons. Medical appeals require supporting documentation and must be submitted in writing.

APPEAL REQUESTS

  • When appealing UP, the player's rating is compared to the player's current play level to see if it is within range.
  • When appealing DOWN, the player's rating is compared to the next play level below the player's level to see if it is within range.

Reasons an appeal may be granted:

YEAR-END APPEALS

  • All players, except national benchmarks, whose rating is within .05 above or below NTRP level, will be granted.
  • Any player who will be 60 years of age or older during the league year and whose rating is within .10 above or below NTRP Level will be granted an appeal.

MIXED EXCLUSIVE APPEAL

  • For ongoing Mixed Exclusive players, all of the Year-End Appeals LISTED ABOVE.
  • For new players (self-rated) with 4 or fewer dynamic ratings may be granted an appeal if it falls within .20 above or below NTRP level.

ELECTRONIC SELF-RATE

  • Self ratings can be automatically appealed UP to a higher level.
  • Self rating can only be requested to be appealed DOWN to a lower level during the self-rate process, or when attempting to register for a team with a lower NTRP rating than their assigned self-rate

EARLY START DYNAMIC APPEALS

  • ESL ratings must be appealed through the Section at this time.

MEDICAL APPEAL

  • Permanent disabling injury or illness occurring after year-end ratings were achieved (with supporting documentation.)
  • Must be submitted separately in writing.
