» Juniors

The Team NWOTA program is an idea based on a program run in the State of Colorado. IT is a program that was designed to help juniors make progress at the sectional and national levels. Every year at the conclusion of the season, we will evaluate the program and make adjustments in order to benefit our players. Below is a brief description of the programs and the rationale.

 

$150  Developmental Team: This group will consist of juniors that are just below the Competitive Training Center (CTC) team. The age range of these kids will be 10 and under roughly. This group will meet beginning in January through May for two hours a session. Each session will deal with development in areas to help our juniors compete at a higher level. Some of these areas will be fitness, sports science, mental toughness, stroke development and most importantly sportsmanship. Also, at this level we will implement parent education. We feel that this group will be competing for a very long time and we want to help develop these areas during the critical developmental years.

 

$300   CTC Team: This group will remain the same as in the years past. This group will be for our top 12 and 14 and under players.   We will try to continue to increase the effectiveness of this group’s development. This group will meet monthly September – May for 5 hours a session. The players will also compete in the District CTC Tournament with the possibility of advancing to a Sectional and Regional event. We will also be looking to add more team matches against other Midwest CTCs and club programs. Also, we will look to increase the education base for our parents since things are constantly changing in junior tennis. The most important priority of this group will be providing opportunities for our players to get together and practice.

 

We hope that these areas will help increase the level of our juniors in Northwest Ohio. Northwest Ohio and the Junior High Performance Committee look forward to building the Team NWOTA concept during the 2011-2012 season.
